“A continuously improving, noble, and creative, individual.”
Changes, Challenges, and Resiliency
The only constant is change. If my goal is to ensure continuous improvement and alignment then I too am changing and evolving constantly. There is a statement which I truly enjoy, “You never step in the same river twice”. I embrace change with an open-mind. I do not believe in coincidences, everything happens for a reason – whether we understand it at the moment or not.
I approach life as collaboration, a complementation, not a competition. I do not compare myself with others, yet how have I improved today. I enjoy challenges, especially complex one as they provide benchmarking information to the development of personal growth and capabilities.
In Akido martial arts the individual uses the opposing force as part of their own strength and tactic for response. In the Taoist philosophy water does not try to push the boulder over to overcome it, it just flows around it. Challenges are obstructions or tools in your path to success, and there are many of them. Challenges are engaged with enlightenment and welcomed. Energy is neither created nor destroyed; it is one of the fundamental laws of thermo-dynamics. Here is resilience, the property of a material to absorb energy when it is deformed and then, upon unloading to have this energy recovered.
The strength of human-beings is in our resiliency, how we recover energy from absorbed changes and challenges and return to an even stronger state. I am no exception; I too am susceptible to new challenges posed by an ever changing world, yet I regularly re-evaluate my current position to ensure I am still in alignment with the vision and goals of my organization and my life.
